I'm a lifelong entrepreneur and leader who is passionate about good design, big ideas, and strong communities. I am most energized by work at the intersection of entrepreneurship, equity, and technology. I find the path from napkin to traction exhilarating and have traveled it multiple times personally and with clients. I hold a degree in Studio Art from Grinnell College and have spent the past 20 years mastering the art of business in leadership roles across Product, Sales, Finance, and Operations for organizations ranging from startups to public companies. I hold several patents, am a Minnesotan on the Move award recipient, and have served on non-profit boards including MetroIBA, St. Paul Central High School Foundation (Chair), and Unity Church-Unitarian (President).

Since 2006, Sonja has partnered with brands like Nintendo, Microsoft, Wells Fargo, and Alliance for a Healthier Generation to deliver software solutions on desktop, native, web, and consoles. In 2020, Sonja started helping other entrepreneurs start successful tech companies at Cloudburst, SBC. In April 2023, she stepped into a Principal Engineering role after 2 years as Director of Engineering. Before entering the tech industry, Sonja managed a guitar store where she sold, maintained, and repaired guitars and other musical instruments.

I am a seasoned innovative thinker with a strategy-first mindset who understands the details without losing sight of the big picture. With a broad range of experiences, I have become an expert at understanding the details, technical requirements, and unique market characteristics in every industry I’ve worked in, and can get up to speed in any market quickly. Combine that with the experience and leadership skills to see the big picture, and drive toward long-term goals, and you will find that I can move between the backroom and the boardroom effortlessly.
